Julie Corke – talks to Jodi Eeles in the 3rd blog supporting our ipledge campaign.
Tell us a little bit about Café 89
We are a family run independent coffee shop selling excellent coffees, smoothies, panini, sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones. We share our space with Polkadot card & gift shop and have our sister company Dolcé next door, where you can get gelato and fudge that is made on the premises.
Why did you choose Tankerton to open your business?
I have always loved Tankerton and spent a lot of my childhood there. I love how much space Tankerton has so jumped at the chance of owning a business there.
What are you looking forward to most after lockdown?
I can’t wait to see lots more of our customers and to start helping to organise outside events for The Talk of Tankerton again.
How will you keep your customers safe on their return?
We spend a great deal of time checking government regulations, updating our risk assessments and training staff.
What has kept you busy over lockdown?
We are open at Cafe 89 at the weekends for takeaway. During the week I am being kept busy home schooling my three children, running the Polkadot online shop, baking for our weekend cafe trade and planning new ideas for Cafe 89 and Dolcé.
How can customers support you right now?
Please like and share our social media posts so that we can grow our online presence. Pop by and pick up a hot drink, bacon bap or delicious homemade cake while you’re out for a weekend walk. If you’re thinking of buying something, please check out your local businesses before shopping with the larger sites like Amazon.
